Class Descriptions

 VINYASA
“Vinyasa” means linked or flowing, and aptly describes the many yoga poses practiced in this one hour class. The physical practice is as gentle or intense as you make it, since the flowing style also includes modifications for every level of practice. (Props and various techniques are supplied as needed). Most poses are only held for a few seconds, however, the heart rate gradually increases as movement continues. Once the body is completely warmed and toned, our more intense stretches bring the class to a relaxed conclusion. Savasana (relaxation) ends every class on a refreshing and positive note. The power of this very accessible practice is manifested in both the physical and subtle bodies, creating harmony within ourselves and eventually in our environs. Start anytime, no experience or flexibility required. Community mats and props available for your use, or bring your own.
PRIVATE/SEMI-PRIVATE lessons are a great way to build confidence in a budding practice or to focus on specific areas for growth, such as physical limitations, cross-training balance, or specific poses. Please call to arrange the time and location (480-474-4545).
 IYENGAR STYLE
Inspired by the modern classic work of B.K.S. Iyengar, this class offers detailed instruction in fewer poses per class. Emphasis is on maintaining proper alignment while increasing the length of time in each pose. This style is less aerobic than Vinyasa, yet more challenging for strength and flexibility, and is therefore recommended for practitioners with previous yoga or athletic experience. This is an excellent method for developing a keen sense of bodily awareness and accuracy in your practice. Mats and props are provided. Class concludes with savasana (relaxation).
